Cygnet tapped for CD Storage on Apples' G4

Kevin Komiega, Assistant News Editor

Cygnet Storage Solutions, Inc. of Milpitas, Calif., is offering up an "all-in-one" storage package for Apples' G4. The id 100 Personal CD Library features two 40x CD-ROM drives, file management software for the Apple Mac, and the ability to upgrade to DVD, for storing and managing up to 100 CDs directly from a Mac browser.

The Library's CD file management software manages CD-ROM discs in a jukebox library. Cygnet said the recommended system requirements for this solution are an Apple G4 with at least 128M Bytes RAM running on Appleshare IP v 6.3 with an Adaptec controller model number AHA 2930.

Cygnet's browser-based software lets users drag and drop files, perform database searching for CDs and files, view the entire directory of CDs, and more.

The Personal CD Library model number, id 100-PL, is available from Cygnet resellers for $3,899 for the Mac or $3,499 for the PC.
