Be Inc., Menlo Park, Calif., and flash disk data storage product developer M-Systems Flash Disk Pioneers Ltd., Newark, Calif., have teamed to support M-System's DiskOnChip solid-state flash disk storage technology with Be's Internet appliance (BeIA) software platform.
According to Be, The BeIA platform is designed for use with the next generation of Internet appliances that are currently in development. M-Systems' DiskOnChip is utilized as a flash-based disk for local storage and simplifies the process of upgrading software versions, a critical feature for the Internet appliance market.
The duo is banking on the inclusion of solid-state storage technology in future Internet appliances and will cooperate in promoting each other's products to their customers.
