Brief: Sun, Comverse to deliver unified messaging services

Sun Microsystems, Inc., Palo Alto, Calif., and Comverse Network Systems, a division of Comverse Technology, Inc., and a leading supplier of software and systems enabling network-based enhanced services based in Woodbury, Long Island, have agreed to collaborate on bringing Internet applications to a broad range of global telecommunications companies.

The multi-million-dollar agreement will span several years and calls for Comverse to integrate Sun's carrier-grade, high availability Netra 1400 servers and Sun StorEdge disk arrays as part of its unified messaging solution. The Sun systems serve as a platform for Comverse's Trilogue Infinity and Access NP systems. Also, as part of the overall agreement, Sun is providing enterprise services for worldwide technical support and training.
