models this month, as both companies offer up new products for SMBs.

The new JetStor arrays support data compression and dedupe, snapshots, thin provisioning, and unified authentication, Advanced Computer & Network (AC&NC) said. The units are compatible with environments using VMware, Citrix Systems Xen, Microsoft Hyper-V, Unix, Windows and Apple OS, the company said.

The JetStor 716U offers as much as 64 TB of storage with 16 drive bays, and the JetStor 724U supports as much as 96 TB of storage with 24 bays. Both units are equipped with six Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) ports using iSCSI or NFS or CIFS protocol host connections, AC&NC said.

AC&NC also makes alternative versions of both models -- the 716U 10G and the 724U 10G -- that are equipped with two 10 GbE ports and a pair of GbE ports.

The JetStor models are scalable to 576 TB by linking just a bunch of disks, or JBOD, units to the arrays, the company said. The arrays come with AC&NC's JetStor RAIDManager software to remotely manage the JetStor units, it said.

New Infortrend NAS systems available

Infortrend announced two new models for its EonNAS 1000 lineup this week, both of which, the company said, are aimed at bringing enterprise-level data protection features to smaller businesses.

The EonNAS 1310 and EonNAS 1510 offer dedupe, compression and a snapshot capability, and are compatible with file- and block-based applications. The systems work with Mac, Windows and Linux/Unix workstations, according to Infortrend.

The 1310 has an Intel Celeron dual-core 2.5 Ghz processor, 2 GB of double data rate type 3 (DDR3) RAM and a pair of GbE ports, and has a 24 TB capacity with its eight drive bays. The 1510 has an Intel Core i3 dual-core 3.3 GHz processor, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, two GbE ports and a dozen drive bays with a maximum capacity of 36 TB, Infortrend said.
