ProStor adds RDX removable disk storage; other data storage news

ProStor upgrades RDX removable disk cartridge system; Thecus launches XXX NAS; LSI WarpDrive PCIe solid-state storage offers Super Micro servers; more news.

ProStor Systems Inc. began shipping its ProStor InfiniVault Model 35, which offers an automated data verification capability and more online disk than previous InfiniVault systems supporting RDX removable disk storage.

Automated data verification checks the data stored on the InfiniVault RDX cartridges, and then repairs lost data by reconstructing the cartridge. Data verification can be manual or scheduled, and the administrator is notified of cartridge failure. By ensuring the integrity of data stored on the RDX cartridge, this feature offers users a reason to move long-term data retention off tape.

The InfiniVault Model 35 replaces the Model 30. The new system supports 8 TB of RAID 5 online disk and 100 TB of removable RDX disk storage.
