Bocada launches data protection reporting for SMBs
Bocada Inc. rolled out Prism Lite, a small- and medium-sized business (SMB) version of its Prism data protection reporting and troubleshooting application. Prism Lite can show trends over time for auditing, capacity planning and policy management, but lacks Prism's advanced features such as SLA compliance management and analysis, policy management and change analysis. Customers can upgrade Prism Lite to the full enterprise version.
U.S., U.K. online backup providers merge
Houston-based online backup provider Terian Solutions and Backup Technology of the U.K. have merged under the Backup Technology name. Backup Technology said it now protects 5 PB of data for customers, including the Red Cross, Master Lock, Motorola, Liverpool Football Club and U.K. government offices. Terian and Backup Technology both used Asigra Cloud Backup software, BlueArc storage and VMware Virtual Disaster Recovery Platform for data protection services.
Nimble Storage gets $16 million in funding
Nimble Storage has closed a $16 million Series C funding to support sales, marketing and engineering for its Nimble CS-Series of converged iSCSI storage, backup and disaster recovery systems. Accel Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital invested in the round.
Jewish Federation uses i365's offsite backup
i365 said the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles has picked EVault for Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (EVault for DPM) for off-site backup and disaster recovery. The Jewish Federation has deployed an EVault for DPM appliance at a primary site protecting Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 and at a secondary location for disaster recovery.
Panasas adds sales, engineering execs
High-performance NAS vendor Panasas Inc. named Bill Ribera vice president (VP) of worldwide sales and Celeste Baranski senior VP of engineering. Ribera has experience at EMC, CommVault Systems, Silver Peak Systems, Veritas and Precise Software. Baranski previously worked at Palm Inc. and Hewlett-Packard, and was most recently CEO at software company Vitamin D.
