The Brocade 8470 Switch Module for IBM BladeCenter and Brocade 1007 CNA for IBM BladeCenter expand Brocade's embedded switch and adapter product line for the Data Center Bridging (DCB), Fibre Channel and FCoE protocols. They support 8 Gbps Fibre Channel, and 10 GbE.
Emulex launches new SOC
Emulex Corp. said the next generation of its InSpeed Switch on Chip (SOC) 442 Embedded Storage Switch is available. The fifth-generation InSpeed SOC 442 handles SAS drive connectivity at the enclosure controller module level and natively connects 2.5-inch small form factor drives in Fibre Channel-based storage systems. The SOC supports 6 Gbps SAS and SATA and 4 Gbps Fibre Channel.
American Megatrends adds iSCSI/NAS storage appliance
American Megatrends launched its StorTrends 2401i IP storage area network (SAN)/network-attached storage (NAS) unified storage appliance. The 2401i is a 2U, 12-bay system that supports SAS and SATA drives and can hold up to 256 TB of raw storage through JBOD expansion. The system also supports 10 GbE.
Vision Solutions upgrades Double-Take suite
Information availability software provider Vision Solutions Inc. updated its Double-Take suite of data protection products. Vision now supports VMware vSphere 4.1 for auto-provisioned virtual machines, and lets customers choose dynamic or fixed disks for virtual servers automatically provisioned with vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V. It also added the ability for Double-Take Move to support migrations to the cloud and added a virtual unlimited host license to Double-Take Recovery that lets users protect an unlimited number of virtual machines on a host.
Sepaton supports OST
Sepaton Inc. said its S2100-ES2 disk backup appliance has been qualified for supporting the Symantec NetBackup OpenStorage (OST) API to go along with its virtual tape library (VTL) support.
Staples Advantage launches cloud backup services
Staples Advantage rolled out its ThriveSafe and ThriveSave hybrid cloud data protection services. ThriveSafe and ThriveSave place an appliance at the customer site that can be backed up to the cloud. ThriveSafe includes failover for disaster recovery.
Fusion-io forges Flash alliance
Flash memory vendor Fusion-io has formed the Fusion-io Technology Alliance Program to develop technologies such as Flash-optimized software and virtualization solutions. Technology Alliance Program members will work with Fusion-io to design, build and implement solutions that leverage Fusion-io's innovative ioMemory technology.

First State Bank & Trust in Kansas selected a Pillar Data Systems Axiom storage system as the key for its disaster recovery plan and to manage rapidly growing storage capacity. The bank replicates critical applications across two Axiom systems, and increased usable capacity by virtualizing 13 servers.
