Tandberg Data adds LTO-5 tape devices
Tandberg Data rolled out its StorageLoader and StorageLibrary Series with LTO-5 tape technology. LTO-5 tape drives have nearly double the capacity of LTO-4 drives, and are backward-write compatible with LTO-4 and backward-read compatible with LTO-4 and LTO-3 drives.
SteelEye extends data replication capability
SteelEye Technology Inc. has launched DataKeeper 7.1 and DataKeeper Cluster Edition 7.1, adding data replication across multiple servers for disaster recovery of remote offices. The cluster edition supports more than two cluster nodes, as well as a mix of shared and replicated storage.
Nasuni tacks on graphical management, reporting tools for cloud storage
Nasuni Corp. added reporting features for its Nasuni Filer cloud storage gateway. The new dashboard lets customers track storage usage and costs associated with storing various file types with different cloud providers.
Voltaire adds QLogic HCAs
QLogic Corp. said Voltaire will sell the QLogic 7300 Series 40 Gbps InfiniBand host channel adapters (HCAs), which are interoperable with the Voltaire Grid Director InfiniBand switches. Voltaire will begin selling the QLogic HCAs in the second half of the year.
Atto delivers 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapters
Atto Technology Inc. introduced the FastFrame 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE) adapters, which support iSCSI remote boot, Data Center Bridging and load balancing on multiple CPUs. The adapters are based on Intel Ethernet 82599 10-GigE controllers.
QNAP pronounced VMware-ready
QNAP Systems Inc. said its TS-x59 Pro Turbo NAS series has achieved iSCSI and NFS VMware Ready certification. The TS-x59 is a multiprotocol block and file storage system for SMBs and entry-level enterprise customers that scales to 16 TB.

Sonian archives social media, IMs
Sonian added instant messaging and social media capabilities for its cloud-powered archiving service. Sonian now enables archiving of Yahoo! Messenger, Google Chat, MSN Messenger, AIM and Microsoft Office Communications Server, as well as social media platforms Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
U.K. service provider picks 3PAR for cloud computing services
3PAR Inc. said U.K. service provider Intercept is using 3PAR InServ T-Class and F-Class storage systems to support its cloud computing services. Intercept claims it has reduced its footprint by 67%, cut power consumption in half and increased performance 40% since replacing its older storage systems with 3PAR.
Infortrends gets VMware certification
Infortrends said its EonStor DS Fibre-Host SMB storage series has achieved VMware Ready status, and is now on the VMware Hardware Compatibility List.
