Mimosa customers can use NetApp's SnapManager for Microsoft Exchange for backup, recovery and verification of Exchange Server databases while eliminating the need to rely on Exchange Journaling.

ProStor Systems ships ProStor InfiniVault SMB removable disk system

ProStor Systems Inc. has made available its InfiniVault Model 5 removable disk appliance for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). ProStor InfiniVault Model 5 is an integrated storage appliance in a tower design with five slots for RDX removable disks and a 1.8 TB file area that can manage 250 million files. ProStor is pricing Model 5 at $14,995, and dropping the price of its entry-level Model 3 to $9,995. ProStor also reduced the price of its expandable, rack-mounted systems the Model 30 ($29,995) and Model 100 ($69,995).

Overland Storage introduces new NEO tape libraries

Overland Storage rolled out two NEO automatic tape libraries. The NEO 200s is a 2U model with up to 38.4 TB of capacity, while the NEO 400s is an expandable library that scales to 76.8 TB in a 4U configuration.

Seagate launches BlackArmor NAS 110

Seagate Technology LLC rolled out the BlackArmor NAS 110 network storage server, the first of the Seagate BlackArmor NAS family to include additional capabilities such as support for Wiki server and Windows Server 2008. The BlackArmor NAS 110 costs $229.99 for 1 TB of storage and $349.99 for 2 TB.

Hitachi GST ships Fibre Channel, SAS enterprise drives

Hitachi GST rolled out two new 15,000 rpm Ultrastar enterprise hard drives. The Ultrastar C15K147 is Hitachi's first 15,000 rpm, 2.5-inch 6 Gbps SAS drive, while the Ultrastar 15K600 is a 600 GB 3.5-inch drive with either 6 Gbps SAS or 4 Gbps Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop (FCAL) interfaces.

SGI delivers new NAS for InfiniteStorage Total Control suite

SGI introduced two new storage offerings within the SGI InfiniteStorage Total Control suite of modular systems. SGI InfiniteStorage NAS is a high-performance NAS hardware platform with Cluster Namespace capability; SGI LiveSAN is a block-level storage virtualization suite for managing any SAN.

Emulex supports SAS and SSDs with InSpeed Bridging

Emulex Corp. is adding support for SAS and SATA to its InSpeed Bridging technology. InSpeed bridging now supports SAS drives in Fibre Channel environments, and solid-state drives (SSDs) in SAS and Fibre Channel environments.

MySpace uses Fusion-io for green data center

MySpace is using Fusion-io solid-state storage in place of hard disk to reduce floor space and power consumption in its data center.

Oracle launches VM Storage Connect Program

Oracle Corp. unveiled the VM Storage Connect Program and previewed the Oracle VM Storage Connect framework at Oracle World. Oracle VM Storage Connect will provide a storage discovery and provisioning application programming interface (API) for supporting storage services such as snapshot and logical unit number (LUN) creation, deletion, expansion.

Savvis selects Compellent SAN for cloud platform

Savvis Inc. said it's using Compellent Technologies Inc. to virtualize storage to support its Project Spirit cloud infrastructure platform. The project is designed to power an enterprise-class Virtual Private Data Center with multitiered Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities. Savvis plans to launch the beta version of Project Spirit this year.

LSI brings out 6 Gbps SAS host bus adapters LSI Corp. is shipping SAS 9200 series of 6 Gbps SATA/SAS host bus adapters (HBAs), based on the LSI SAS2008 6 Gbps SAS controller IC. The adapters are designed to support applications ranging from email, OLTP and streaming video, to data center workloads such as Web hosting and cloud computing.

ATTO partners with Maxx Digital for Final Cut Pro system

ATTO Technology Inc. and Maxx Digital said the ATTO ExpressSAS R380 SAS/SATA RAID Adapter is included as part of Maxx Digital's Final Share Storage System to provide a high-bandwidth, RAID-protected, shared storage solution for Apple Final Cut Pro users.

Decho announces partnership with Vodafone

International mobile telecom company Vodafone is developing a range of cloud-based PC backup services for businesses and consumers based upon Mozy, owned by EMC Corp. subsidiary Decho.
