3PAR said it will support Exanet Inc. ExaStore Clustered NAS Servers to add file services on its SAN InServ Storage systems. The vendors said customers AudienceScience and Interactive One are deploying dedicated Exanet NAS file systems with 3PAR block storage.
Organizations using 3PAR and Exanet storage together can add NFS and CIFS NAS protocols to 3PAR's Fast RAID 5 and high-availability features. The vendors said they have qualified their systems to work together and have established a joint support agreement.
Hitachi Data Systems upgrades SAN monitoring tool
Hitachi Data Systems Corp. upgraded its Hitachi IT Operations Analyzer software that monitors and diagnoses servers, switch and storage nodes across the data center. Version 1.2 introduces monitoring support for NetApp FAS storage systems, Cisco Fibre Channel switches and Juniper EX Series Ethernet switches, and expands its VMware virtualization support with the inclusion of VMware ESXi. It also has an API that lets vendors integrate software applications.
Tandberg sells DAT drives
Tandberg Data has added entry-level DAT tape to its portfolio, beginning with the DAT72 and DAT160 drives. Tandberg said it will add DAT320 drives by the end of 2009. Pricing begins at approximately $499 for the DAT72 drive and $749 for the DAT160.
Emulex rolls out 8 gig, quad-channel HBAEmulex Corp. launched its LPe12004 quad-channel 8 Gbps Fibre Channel host bus adapter (HBA). The LPe12004 supports simultaneous initiator and target mode use on a per-port basis, and has four 8 Gpbs ports on a single board.
HP, QLogic make virtual connection
QLogic Corp. said it has been chosen as a manufacturing and marketing partner for the new Hewlett-Packard Virtual Connect 8 Gbps 20-port FC module for HP BladeSystem c7000 and c3000 enclosures. HP Virtual Connect virtualizes server and storage connections.SaaS vendor EDmin.com turns to NEC storage
NEC Corp. of America said learning management services provider EDmin.com is using NEC's D-Series SAN Storage for high availability in its San Diego and Dallas data centers.
Discovery picks Spectra Logic for archiving
Discovery Communications Inc. has deployed a Spectra Logic Corp. Spectra T950 tape library with 2,200 LTO-4 cartridges for digital asset management. Discovery, parent company of the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet, uses the T950 to archive more than 24,000 hours of video content.
