Oakwood Healthcare picks Cisco SAN
Cisco Systems Inc. announced that Oakwood Healthcare System, which serves over a million people in 35 communities with four acute-care hospitals and more than 40 primary or specialty care facilities, has deployed a 45 terabyte (TB) SAN based on Cisco MDS 9509 Multilayer Directors and Cisco MDS 9216i Multilayer Fabric Switches.

Oakwood next plans to extend its SAN and mirror data to a disaster recovery site using the Fibre Channel over IP capability of the Cisco MDS 9216i switches.

Brocade offers storage switch for HP blades
Brocade Communications Systems Inc. announced that it will be providing a new embedded SAN switch module for Hewlett-Packard Co (HP)'s newly announced BladeSystem c-Class servers. This new Brocade SAN switch module offered by HP is a 24-port 4 Gbps high-performance integrated SAN switch designed to support seamless integration of advance Brocade SAN technology into the HP BladeSystem solution.

Addonics releases encrypted drive enclosures
Addonics Technologies Inc. announced the debut of its Jupiter enclosure series, which accepts any manufacturer's 2.5-inch IDE hard drive with drive height of 10 mm or less. The Jupiter drive enclosure also comes with choice of hardware encryption, called Jupiter Cipher.

Intransa says business is booming
Intransa Inc. announced a 70% increase in customers for its IP SAN in the first half of 2006. Intransa attributes this growth to concentrated efforts on the U.S. market, increased traction of its partner program and focus on new applications ,such as disk-to-disk backup.

Revivio and Copan partner
Revivio Inc., a leading provider of data protection and application availability solutions, and Copan Systems announced that they will be offering joint products that combine Revivio's continuous data protection with Copan's MAID storage arrays. Early indications are that the joint product will be a fixed-content archive.

Overland adds board member
Overland Storage Inc. announced the appointment of William J. Miller to its board of directors, filling a vacancy on the company's six-member board. Miller is an independent director and advisor to technology companies. Previously, Miller served as chairman and CEO of Avid Technology Inc., having served earlier in his career in the same capacity for Quantum Corp.
