AmeriVault Corp. announced the SentryVault backup service, which it claims comes "at a price that is less than solutions of lesser quality." It is also cheaper than its flagship product, ServerVault. The service detects byte-level changes in files or databases, compresses and encrypts the data change, and sends it over the Internet where it is secured on disk in a co-location facility. No further information was available on SentryVault's pricing as of press time.
Omneon chooses Xyratex for grid
Xyratex Ltd. announced that it has signed an OEM agreement with Omneon Video Networks. Under the agreement, Omneon will integrate its MediaGrid storage and file system management software onto Xyratex's ATX-based 1U box, the HS-0435. The resulting product will be called the ContentServer 1042 and marketed as part of Omneon's recently announced MediaGrid Active Storage System.
Fujitsu announces degausser
Fujitsu Computer Products of America Inc. announced the Mag EraSure P2V desktop degausser. The product uses a rare earth-permanent magnet to erase magnetically recorded information. In addition to purging recorded information on the storage device, including servo and calibration data, the degausser also destroys most read/write heads.
LSI intros low-profile SAS RAID adapters
LSI Logic Corp. announced low-profile SAS RAID storage adapters. The new MegaRAID SAS 8308ELP and SAS 8344ELP PCI Express adapters offer eight ports of SAS connectivity and the ability to use either 3 Gbps SAS or SATA II drives, or a combination of both.
TeraCloud dubbed IBM System Storage Proven
Storage analytics software provider TeraCloud Corp. announced that its SpaceFinder v4.4.1 suite has successfully completed interoperability testing with IBM's System Storage products and has been confirmed as IBM System Storage Proven.
