EMC Corp. announced that it has added e-mail and disk-to-disk backup to the Insignia line for small and midsized businesses (SMB). The EMC Insignia Solution for Exchange and EMC Insignia Solution for Data Protection both use the new EMC Clariion AX150 and AX150i for disk hardware.
The Exchange product includes the ability to automate Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 migration and the ability to restore individual e-mail messages, a mailbox or the entire server. The product combines the Clariion AX150 and AX150i, EMC Storage Administrator for Exchange SMB Edition software, and EMC Retrospect for Windows backup and recovery software. The disk-to-disk product combines Retrospect for Windows backup and recovery software with the AX150 and AX150i.
Scentric comes out of stealth with classification
Scentric announced it is coming out of stealth/beta testing mode with its Scentric Destiny product, which classifies disparate types of data, including files, e-mails and databases in one repository. Scentric's announcement today coincides with the launch of its corporate identity and Web site, following the recent expansion of its Series A funding round to $10.4 million from HIG Ventures, Valhalla Partners, Imlay Investments and ATDC.

Publisher consolidates with Brocade routers
Nihon Keizai Shimbun Inc. (Nikkei), a publisher of business news and information based in Japan, is storing its mission-critical data using SilkWorm multi-protocol routers from Brocade. The Tokyo-based firm is consolidating multiple Brocade SANs with the routers.

CA names COO
CA Inc. announced that Michael J. Christenson has been elected as CA's new chief operating officer. He replaces Jeff Clarke who is leaving the company to assume the position of president and CEO of the Travel Distribution Services division of Cendant Corp. Christenson joined CA in February 2005, having retired in 2004 from Citigroup Global Markets Inc. after a 23-year career as an investment banker.

Revivio signs first Euro reseller
Revivio Inc. announced it has signed its first European channel partner agreement with U.K.-based IS Solutions.
