Compellent, OnStor claim automated tiered storage
Storage hardware maker Compellent Technologies and NAS gateway maker OnStor introduced a SAN/NAS product that they claim will automatically migrate data between storage tiers. The joint Compellent and OnStor product is available immediately through
Compellent's business partners; pricing for an entry-level configuration starts at $71,000 and includes Storage Center with 2 terabytes (TB) of storage and a Bobcat NAS gateway.
Ario introduces capacity blades
Ario Data Networks Inc. unveiled the first products in its new Capacity Storage Array line of SATA- and SAS-based boxes. With this announcement, Ario introduces StorBlade, capable of storing 26 TB in a single enclosure array. Each Ario StorBlade can support up to four drive carriers. The array also allows access to the blades and disks from the front of the rack, without having to power down the system or dismantle the enclosure for service.
CoreVault partners with Get
Online backup service provider CoreVault announced today that is has partnered with Get Imaging Inc., an Oklahoma City-based document conversion company to offer document scanning and imaging services for CoreVault's customers. GET Imaging specializes in converting paper records, microfilm, microfiche and aperture cards to digital images.
Footstar outsources with GlassHouse
GlassHouse Technologies announced
it has consulted with footwear retailer Footstar Inc. to revise its data backup processes. During a three-month engagement, GlassHouse made recommendations for modifying Footstar's Tivoli Storage Manager backup environment and redesigning its disaster recovery plan, then implemented the recommendations that Footstar approved. After the initial engagement, Footstar hired GlassHouse Operational Support Services to remotely manage Footstar's backup procedures.
