Xiotech certifies VMware
Xiotech Corp. announced that it has certified VMware ESX Server for use with its Magnitude 3D storage systems. VMware ESX Server 2.5 currently is certified with Magnitude 3D 1000e, 1000s, 3000e and 3000s systems. VMware ESX Server 3.0 is expected to become available in the second quarter of 2006 and Xiotech plans on fully supporting VMware ESX Server 3.0 shortly after it becomes available.

Emulex joines VMware Open Development Program
Emulex Corp. announced that it has formalized participation in the VMware Community Source program, which provides access to the source code and application programming interfaces for VMware ESX Server. Emulex will help develop SAN connectivity standards for server virtualization environments.

PolyServe brushes up cluster GUI
PolyServe announced updates to its File Serving Utility for Linux software package, including a performance dashboard tool. The performance dashboard tracks performance including I/O throughput, NFS traffic, and CPU and memory utilization on individual servers, and aggregates this information across the cluster.

Imation names research and development VP
Imation Corp. announced the appointment of Dr. Subodh Kulkarni to vice president of research and development, effective March 1, 2006. He succeeds Dr. Richard G. Weiss, who is retiring.
