NetApp joins Sun cluster program Network Appliance Inc. announced that NetApp Fibre Channel (FC)-based storage systems are now part of the Sun Cluster Open Storage Program. Network Appliance participation in the program allows customers to use Sun Cluster and the Sun Solaris operating system. Sepaton, OnStor partner Sepaton and OnStor announced a partnership in which Sepaton's S2100-ES2 VTL will back up Onstor's NAS systems. Sepaton also announced that the University of California, Merced has deployed the combined offering.
Offsite storage outsourcer taps Xiotech Xiotech announced that One Safe Place Media Corp., an offsite storage service provider, selected Xiotech's Magnitude 3D storage array to provide disaster recovery services for its customers. Based in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area, One Safe Place provides electronic vaulting, traditional vaulting, film and video storage and disaster recovery and planning services.
Availl updates WAFS, CDP Availl announced it has shipped a new version of both its wide area file system (WAFS) and continuous data protection (CDP) software. The new release extends scalability of the WAFS software to thousands of users and hundreds of sites across multiple continents. It also consolidates server backup for both hot databases and unlimited files into one architecture.
DNF acquires StoneFly Dynamic Network Factory, Inc. announced it has acquired floundering IP SAN startup StoneFly Networks. StoneFly will continue to maintain its San Diego headquarters, operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of DNF. Effective immediately, StoneFly Networks' company name has been changed to StoneFly Inc.
Aspen chooses MTI MTI Technology Corp. was chosen to provide a storage infrastructure for Aspen Technology Inc., a software and professional services organization serving the petrochemical industry. MTI consolidated distributed storage from 25 servers and Aspen's aging EMC Symmetrix system to a new Clariion CX700 storage array.
Atto unveils storage appliance Atto Technology Inc. announced the FastStream 5300 storage appliance. The external device integrates into existing SCSI storage, adding RAID protection and storage networking.
Asigra announces ISV partner Asigra announced its partnership with Jonas Software, an independent software vendor (ISV) in the club, hotel, construction and service billing industries. Jonas Software recently launched an e-backup service using Asigra's Televaulting software.
