Seagate acquires Mirra
Seagate Technology announced the acquisition of Mirra, Inc. The startup makes data protection software and services, as well as products that provide backup, device synchronization and remote access to digital files and networked devices.

Storage Computer assets auctioned
Storage Computer Corp. has shut down its operations and is auctioning off the assets. Advanced Asset Services Inc. will hold a webcast auction of the assets on Thursday, September 22. Inspection of the equipment will take place on September 21. Revivio announces "little sister," replication box
Revivio has announced a "little sister" to its CPS1200 continuous data protection (CDP) box, the CPS1200i, a 2U box meant for remote offices and small businesses. The company also announced general availability of a replication module for its CDP boxes, which provide remote replication of the appliances for DR.

Adaptec, Supermicro join on SAS motherboards
Adaptec, Inc. and Supermicro Computer, Inc. have partnered on Serial Attached SCSI-enabled motherboards for the white box server market. Supermicro's X6DHP-3G2, X6DHR-3G2 and X6DH3-G2 motherboards use Adaptec's SAS ASIC chip, HostRAID controller, and storage management software.

Ciprico patents single-chip server
Ciprico Inc. announced that it has patented a media server with a single-chip storage controller. This patent derives from Ciprico's proprietary Media Vault RAID controller, acquired as part of its acquisition of Huge Systems.

QLogic reaches blade milestone
QLogic announced the company shipped it's 500,000th blade server HBA port. QLogic exclusively makes Fibre Channel embedded switches and HBAs for bladed servers.
