BakBone acquires Constant Data BakBone Software announced that it has completed the acquisition of privately-held Constant Data Inc. of Hopkins, Minn., for $5.5 million in cash and limited contingent payments. The acquisition marks BakBone's entry into the data replication and high availability software market -- Constant Data's flagship product, Constant Replicator, automatically maintains file and data synchronization during off-site data mirroring. Constant Data will continue to operate in Minnesota, the companies said.
Crosswalk introduces backup reporting tool Storage management software startup Crosswalk Inc. announced the Crosswalk Storage Manager Backup Bundle, a prepackaged configuration of Crosswalk storage management software products which allows users to monitor heterogeneous backup environments in a single pane. Features of the bundle include graphical representation of the entire backup environment, reporting on backup applications, aggregation of multiple backup applications and/or vendors, mapping of host drives to backup application and mapping of backup hosts to hosts not under backup.

Fujitsu announces strong disk shipments Fujitsu announced that shipments of its mobile hard disk drive increased in the third quarter of 2005 to 4.9 million units, a jump of over 50% from the same quarter last year. In addition, Fujitsu shipped 1.2 million enterprise hard disk drives, retaining its position as the second largest supplier of enterprise hard disk drives in the industry.
