NetApp launches security initiative
Network Appliance Inc. (NetApp) unveiled its Uncompromised Security Initiative, a program that promotes the company's security products including: Decru DataFort storage security appliances, NetApp disk systems running Data ONTAP security features, and NetCache Internet access and security appliances. NetApp is also rolling out a variety of educational tools to help customers better understand their data security risks and the ways they can tune their IT infrastructure to mitigate those risks without having to "rip and replace" or make unrealistic investments.
BlueArc touts customers
High-performance NAS company, BlueArc, announced several new customer wins from its just-completed quarter ending Oct. 31, 2005. During the quarter, BlueArc added new accounts, including Bechtel National Inc.'s Waste Treatment Plant Project, Evans & Sutherland, Freeze.com, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology to its roster. Additionally, BlueArc continues to see expansion within the company's installed base. Some of these customers include ChoiceOne Communications, discover-e Legal, Mr. X Visual Effects, Penn State University, Revenue Science and WebTrends. Each one contributed to BlueArc's growth in the most recent quarter, the company said.
OnTrack improves Exchange recovery
Ontrack Data Recovery announced the availability of Ontrack PowerControls 4.0
software, the newest version of its mailbox recovery tool. This upgraded version helps Microsoft Exchange administrators save time and deliver better recovery performance with more powerful searching and reporting capabilities, and expanded backup format support for CommVault Galaxy and UltraBac Software, the company said.
