McData certifies Xserve RAID, announces 20K directors sold
McData Corporation announced interoperability between its Intrepid Directors, Sphereon Fabric Switches and Apple's Xserve RAID, recently qualified for interoperability via McData's OPENready Partner Program.
McData also announced it has sold more than 20,000 Intrepid Directors worldwide since 1998. McData holds 44 percent market share in the director level switch space.
Emulex qualified by Sun
Emulex announced the qualification by Sun Microsystems of the Emulex-based Solaris Fibre Channel (FC) architecture driver that supports Emulex LightPulse(r) 2Gb/s and 4Gb/s HBAs. The driver is integrated into the Sun StorEdge SAN Foundation Software for use with the Solaris 10 OS.
Cisco OEMs QLogic
Cisco has begun offering a 20-port 4Gbit FC switch from QLogic, branded as the Cisco MDS 9020. Cisco already sells 20-port FC switches, but will be able to offer the QLogic boxes at a lower price, around $200 per port.
Revinetix tries its hand at CAS
Revinetix announced that it plans to integrate a Content Addressable Storage (CAS) archiving software upgrade into its Sentio and Volo backup and recovery appliances by year-end. Revinetix's CAS support is slated for release by mid-December. The software update will be integrated into all Sentio and Volo products at no additional cost.
