Hospital drops EMC for IBM
IBM announced that St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center has switched its EMC hardware for an IBM TotalStorage infrastructure for its data center, including the DS4100, DS4300 and ESS 800 systems. An IBM eServer p630 system was also installed to help run IBM Tivoli Storage Manager. The hospital's new system is designed to store up to 15 terabytes of information and speed the retrieval of patient records for doctors and medical staff.

Intradyn updates e-mail box
Intradyn Inc. has announced an update to its ComplianceVault e-mail archiving box, called ComplianceVault06. The new version features improved search capabilities on e-mail archives, including fuzzy searches, proximity searches, wild card searches, field groupings and the ability to search within attachments. The box is also now able to export to external media and creates an audit trail showing any process that's ever touched an e-mail. Finally, the management software for the box has a new interface. For new customers, the product starts at $8,995 for a 320 GB disk, up to $11,495 for 1 terabyte capacity; for current customers, the updates are available online at no charge for a limited time.

Engenio teams with Oracle
Engenio Information Technologies Inc. announced that Oracle will combine its products with Engenio storage platforms. The test environment of the collaborative effort includes Oracle Database 10g Release 2, Oracle E-Business Suite, the Engenio 6998, a 4 Gbps Fibre Channel (FC) storage array and the Engenio 2822, a 2 Gbps FC SATA storage system.

OnStor, 3Par release UtiliCat
Gateway maker OnStor Inc. and back-end storage startup 3Par Data Inc. continue a longstanding partnership with UtiliCat, a combo box that creates a SAN/NAS storage pool.
