StorageTek and Deloitte partner for compliance; Permabit upgrades Permeon; Plasmon improves UDO for compliance.

StorageTek teams with Deloitte on compliance
Storage Technology Corp. (StorageTek) unveiled a partnership with Deloitte Consulting LLP that will result in a compliance consulting business. StorageTek's archiving and data management products will combine with Deloitte's consulting services.

According to analyst Dianne McAdam of the Data Mobility Group, the partnership should benefit both partners. "It allows StorageTek to get exposure to Deloitte's customer base," she said. "And Deloitte can say they will deliver the implementation of their recommended compliance policies."

Permabit releases Permeon Compliance Store 2.0
Permabit Inc. announced that an upgrade to its flagship product, Permeon Compliance Store 2.0, is generally available today. The new product has enhanced system reliability and reporting, and support improvements. Other new features include, support for files up to 2 terabytes (TB) in size and enhanced support for component failures.

Plasmon improves UDO for compliance
Plasmon announced the launch of the new Ultra Density Optical (UDO) Compliant Write Once media. The company already has a write-once product, True Write Once, but the new release adds the ability to physically destroy records.

NASD sticks with Sun
Sun Microsystems Inc. announced that financial regulatory services provider NASD has migrated several business-critical applications to the Sun StorEdge 6920 system and the Solaris OS for a number of its business-critical applications. In 2003, NASD migrated its midrange systems to Sun Fire E12K and E15K servers.

Compellent integrates iSCSI, FC
Compellent Technologies announced it has integrated iSCSI connectivity to Storage Center, its SAN. Storage Center connects to Fibre Channel (FC) and/or iSCSI server interfaces on the front end and FC and/or SATA disk on the back end.

Spectra Logic introduces S50 LTO library, channel program
Spectra Logic Corp. is announcing the availability of its newest tape library, the Spectra S50, aimed at small and midsized businesses. The S50 has up to 40 TB capacity and throughput of up to 576 GB per hour. The company has also announced that D&H Distributing Co. will now offer its tape drives and libraries to resellers.

StoneFly announces low-cost IP SAN
StoneFly Networks Inc. announced StoneFly ValueSAN designed to be a low-cost system for small or budget-conscious customers. ValueSAN is based on StoneFly Storage Concentratori3000 storage management software and includes StoneFly Reflection mirroring and snapshots. The product starts at under $10,000.

GoldenGate Software releases Veridata
GoldenGate Software Inc., which makes transactional data management software, announced the addition of monitoring and reporting capabilities to its product line with Veridata. The software compares data between active databases, identifies and reports discrepancies.

NetApp completes acquisition of Decru
Network Appliance Inc. announced that it has completed the acquisition of encryption maker Decru Inc.. Under the terms of the definitive agreement announced June 16, 2005, NetApp acquired Decru for approximately $260 million in cash and stock.
