Xyratex to acquire nStor
Network and storage subsystem maker Xyratex Ltd. has announced it will acquire controller and component maker nStor Corp. for approximately $21.2 million. The board of directors of both companies have approved the merger agreement.

Pillar names new director
Pillar Data Systems Inc. announced yesterday that Michael Grainger has been appointed to its board of directors. The former president and chief operating officer of Ingram Micro Inc., Grainger is the seventh director to join Pillar's board since the company was founded in 2001.

Medical Informatics chooses Infortrend
RAID storage maker Infortrend Inc. has announced that Medical Informatics Engineering (MIE), a digital medical records management firm, has selected Infortrend's EonStor product for its private communications network. The system to be used by MIE includes a 12-drive bay SCSI-to-ATA array and RAID controllers.
