IBM to introduce new FC drives; EqualLogic announces 500 customer milestone; Arkeia to support Mac.

IBM unveils 146 GB FC drives
IBM is introducing a fourth option to its line of Fibre Channel (FC) drives for its DS8000 and DS6000 arrays. The 15K 146GB drive will be priced between the current IBM 146 GB 10K RPM drive ($31,000) and the 300 GB 10K RPM drive ($55,000). The new drives will ship on Aug. 30.

EqualLogic touts 500th customer
EqualLogic Inc. has announced that its PS Series arrays have been used by more than 500 customers in multiple industries worldwide after two years of shipping the product. The enterprise-class iSCSI arrays also include storage management software and are scalable to 100 terabytes.

Arkeia supports Mac
Arkeia Corp.'s Network Backup solution now supports the recently released Mac OS X Tiger operating system, the company announced today. Hot backup plug-ins for MySQL and LDAP applications operating in Macintosh environments are also available.
