Storage Clips: Emulex-sponsored FC-SATA standard approved

Emulex's FC to SATA connectivity protocol, which connects FC to SATA drives without SAS or FC bridges, has been approved by the ANSI T11 committee.

Emulex-sponsored FC-SATA approved by ANSI
Emulex Corp. announced that its recent standards submission, called "FC-SATA," was approved by the ANSI T11 committee. FC-SATA allows Fibre Channel to connect with SATA disk drives without the need for SAS or Fibre Channel bridges. FC-SATA is currently in the formal standard development stages and will serve as an official guideline for vendors.

AppIQ SRM qualified by IBM
AppIQ Inc. announced that IBM has certified its SRM and SAN management software. AppIQ's StorageAuthority product can be used with IBM TotalStorage ESS disk systems for auto-discovery, path management, reporting, provisioning, capacity management, performance analysis, and fault monitoring.

BakBone launches federal channel program
BakBone Software announced the launch of a program to increase federal-government usage of its NetVault backup and recovery software. The Federal Channel Advantage program is aimed at federal government agencies, including the State Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the United States Congress, and looks to provide a single point of contact from BakBone for this sector.

Zycko distributes Asigra's backup software
Asigra Inc. announced that Zycko Ltd. will distribute its Televaulting software. The Televaulting product, a subscription remote backup service, charges users according to the amount of data protected.
