Sun Microsystems Inc. announced the general availability of the Sun StorEdge 5310 Compliance Archiving System, a combination of the Sun StorEdge 5310 NAS appliance and Sun StorEdge Compliance Archiving software. The system enforces electronic record retention policies at the storage level. Write-once, read-many (WORM) files are nonrewritable and nonerasable. Audit logs, user authentication, secure clock and access controls are among the security features. The system supports snapshot copies, remote data mirroring and a choice of either Fibre Channel or SATA disk that scales to 179 terabytes. For layered storage, users can opt for WORM tape backup/archive as well.
Unisys, Kashya partner on DR
Kashya Inc.'s data replication technology will be offered by Unisys as part of an integrated product for disaster recovery (DR) and clustering for Microsoft Windows servers. The Kashya KBX5000 Data Replication Appliance provides data protection for heterogeneous storage environments. The Unisys product will support automated application failover and recovery over standard IP networks.
Kofax gets EMC Documentum accreditation
Information capture vendor Kofax has announced that its Ascent Capture application is available on the EMC Documentum 5.3 platform, and has received the EMC Designed for Documentum logo designation. Ascent Capture converts paper documents into retrievable digital information.
