Brocade invests $7.5M in Tacit
Brocade Communications Systems Inc. will invest up to $7.5 million for a minority ownership share in privately held Tacit Networks, and will add Tacit's wide-area file services product to its product portfolio. Tacit's product enables LAN-like branch office file access to centrally-stored data over a WAN.

Quantum soups up LTO-2 HH tape
Quantum Corp. announced it has enhanced its Quantum (Certance) LTO-2 Half Height tape drive increasing the drive's transfer rate to 26 megabytes per second. It costs $2,000 and with these enhancements Quantum claims the LTO-2 HH is the fastest midrange LTO-2 HH tape drive on the market.

BakBone, Exabyte support Apple
BakBone Software Inc. and Exabyte Corp. announced a partnership to develop integrated data protection offerings for Apple Computer Inc. customers through joint sales and marketing, product qualification and technical support. The integration will support Apple's Mac OS X operating system, including the newly released version, Tiger.
