HDS, CommVault strike a deal Hitachi Data Systems Corp. (HDS) and CommVault Systems Inc., announced a worldwide distribution agreement where HDS will cobrand and resell nearly all of CommVault's QiNetix data protection software suite. The combined product will integrate the QiNetix suite with HDS storage and be called "Hitachi Data Protection Suite Powered by CommVault." Under the terms of the multi-year agreement, both companies will provide support, training and professional services to customers. HDS will OEM all products in the CommVault QiNetix suite except QiNetix Storage Manager, which conflicts with an existing storage management product used by HDS -- AppIQ's HiCommand Storage Services Manager. "AppIQ covers our storage management layer. CommVault will be used for data protection and archiving," said Brian Householder, senior director, business development for HDS. This agreement builds on an existing relationship between HDS and CommVault. HDS has been OEMing CommVault's backup software, Galaxy, for the past two years. For CommVault, the agreement will broaden its reach in the enterprise storage space. StorageTek Canada to resell BlueArc BlueArc Corp. announced that StorageTek Canada, a wholly owned subsidiary of Storage Technology Corp. (StorageTek), has signed an agreement to resell BlueArc network storage products to its Canadian customers. The agreement follows the joint qualification of BlueArc's Titan SiliconServer with StorageTek's FlexLine disk subsystem, announced by the two companies in December, 2004.
StoneFly finds more office space StoneFly Networks Inc. announced it has opened six regional sales offices, increasing its team of regional sales managers. The new offices are located in the Southwest, Southeast, the Northwest, Northeast, South Central and Midwest. The company said last year's introduction of IP SAN-based disk-to-disk backup product, StoneFly Backup Advantage, heightened the need for a bigger sales presence.
Northern releases SRM suite Northern, a provider of Windows-based storage resource management software, announced the release of Northern Storage Suite 2005. Built around Northern's Quota Server technology, the suite consolidates Northern's storage software products into one storage resource management product, with disk quotas, reporting, charge-back, automation and user interaction.
