Not everyone has time to sit reading through mountains of e-mail to get the scoop on what's happening in the storage industry.
If that sounds like you, check out Storage News Radio, a punchy five to eight minute run down of the hottest headlines in storage, brought to you every other week on SearchStorage.com.
Making the headlines in the first show, available on the site today (March 25), were Microsoft Corp., EMC Corp., Hitachi Data Systems, Hewlett-Packard Co. and upstart Kazeon Inc., and the topic of the day was iSCSI.
SearchStorage.com News Director Jo Maitland and Steve Duplessie, founder and analyst of the Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), chatted about the latest developments in the iSCSI market, including the growth of iSCSI, what's new in Version 2.0 of Microsoft's iSCSI software initiator, EMC's effort to catch up with Network Appliance in this marketplace and where iSCSI fits versus Fibre Channel.
Duplessie said ESG is tracking 3,500 production iSCSI sites right now and the firm predicts this number will hit 10,000 by year's end.
