Xiotech taps AppIQ for SMI-S management Xiotech Corp. and AppIQ Inc. announced a technical alliance to produce standardized management of Xiotech Magnitude 3D(TM) arrays. AppIQ and Xiotech are codeveloping a Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMI-S) provider for Xiotech's family of distributed, clustered storage products, using AppIQ's expertise in SMI-S. The standards-based integration will enable users to use SMI-S compliant management software such as AppIQ StorageAuthority Suite to monitor, provision, report on and manage Xiotech Magnitude 3D storage systems, the companies said.
nStor adds alerts nStor Corp. has added a proactive monitoring system, StorView Alert, to its NexStor line of storage systems. It unobtrusively scans the system to ensure that data is available and the system is in proper working condition avoiding business operation disruptions and improving business continuity, the company said.
Image Fortress offers digital archiving Image Fortress Corp. has unveiled DigitalFortress, a Web-based records management and digital archiving service designed for government and commercial organizations in the records center, legal, financial services and media industries. Pricing for DigitalFortress starts at $500 per month for basic archiving capabilities. Jay Parrino's The Mint's collection is using the service to catalog and store several million historic and vintage photographs.
TimeSpring and NavigateStorage partner TimeSpring Software Corp. and NavigateStorage LLC announced an agreement under which NavigateStorage will offer TimeSpring's TimeData continuous data protection software to its Windows customer base. Founded in 1999, NavigateStorage provides data protection and compliance products to industries including finance, insurance, legal, education, telecom and manufacturing up and down the U.S. east coast.
PacketLight inserts storage extension PacketLight Networks announced the availability of its PL-100-Opto, which in conjunction with the PL-100 storage multiplexer, provides a modular data and storage transport offering over existing infrastructure. In addition, PacketLight said it allows fast rollout of data services to users that previously could not be reached. The platform can be utilized as a carrier class Customer Located Equipment DWDM/CWDM Access Device or a Metro WDM equipment.
