CommVault updates data management software CommVault, provider of data management products, launched the second generation of its QiNetix Unified Data Management software suite. CommVault said this upgrade of QiNetix allows IT departments to place data on the optimum storage medium and match cost, access and recoverability to service level requirements. CommVault's QiNetix suite is built on a common technology platform, eliminating the need to build and maintain multiple back-end repositories to manage the access and availability of data.

Tape vendors pass LTO test Certance, Hewlett-Packard and IBM, the three technology companies in the LTO (Linear Tape-Open) Program, announced that Fujifilm, Imation, Maxell, Sony Electronics and TDK Electronics Corp. have successfully completed the LTO Ultrium format media compliance verification testing process and have earned the right to use the LTO Ultrium format generation 3 trademark on their products.

ComBrio, Revivio make a dealio ComBrio Inc., a provider of on-demand support for on-demand networks, announced that Revivio Inc., provider of continuous data protection products, is using ComBrio's Virtual Service Infrastructure (VSI) to enhance the serviceability of the Revivio Continuous Protection System (CPS). ComBrio's VSI provides secure, remote access for maintenance, upgrades and diagnostics. The ComBrio VSI product extends continuous monitoring and management of specified devices between Revivio's support facilities and various customer sites.
DataDirect intros FC-4 and Infiniband storage controller DataDirect Networks, a provider of high-performance computing, is unveiling its flagship S2A9500 storage system, delivering bandwidth of 3.2 GBps and a broad range of host and disk-side options. The S2A9500 provides block level and file system performance for open system computing environments. The product is built around a fast cache-centric design with 11.2 GBps of internal bandwidth, supported by a fully redundant host and disk-side architecture and on-the-fly read and write RAID parity calculation. The S2A9500 offers a choice of FC-4 and Infiniband host connections as well as SATA, Fibre Channel, and SAS disk drive options.
Atto and Seagate demo 4 Gb interoperability Atto Technology Inc., a provider of storage connectivity and infrastructure products, announced today that Atto and Seagate Technology will jointly demonstrate 4 Gb interoperability at SC2004 Conference in Pittsburgh, Pa., November 8 – 11, 2004. SC2004 is the annual conference on high-performance computing, networking and storage. The demonstration will feature the ATTO Celerity FC-42XS connected to Seagate Cheetah 15K 4-Gb hard disk drives and will showcase the high-speed data-transfer rates achievable with a 4 Gb Fibre Channel storage solution.
