Vendors jump on Microsoft server Symantec Corp. and Emulex Corp. both announced today that they plan to support Microsoft's Data Protection Server (DPS). Emulex's LightPulse HBAs and SAN Storage Switches will support DPS to help offer users faster and more reliable disk-based backup and recovery. Symantec will support the DPS with its new LiveState Recovery products with the hopes of maximizing data availability and reducing downtime. Data Protection Server provides recovery and continuous protection for Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2000 users, streamlining backup and recovery processes and integrating with storage area networks.
Copan and FileTek partner up Copan Systems, provider of the disk-based backup for long-term data storage, and FileTek Inc., a data access and management software company, today announced the formation of a partnership to deliver an archive data management product for structured and unstructured data. Specifically engineered for government and Fortune 500 companies, the combined product will consist of FileTek's StorHouse data and access management software and Copan Systems' Revolution 200T disk-based storage.
