Respondents to Storage magazine's 2008 priorities survey rank power consumption and cooling requirements as low criteria for disk system purchases. Only 15% of those surveyed say power and cooling requirements are very important purchasing factors. The majority (43%) say they're important factors, but they won't determine their final system choice. Another 30% call power and cooling "minor considerations," and 10% don't use power consumption requirements as criteria when shopping for disk systems. Two percent aren't sure how power and cooling requirements will affect their disk buys.
