Hard disk drives become more affordable
Prices softened this month in almost all of the categories we track. Hard disk drive prices dropped across the board, with 750GB SATA drives garnering the biggest decline, down nearly $30 in the past few months. Tape drive prices didn't show much movement with the exception of LTO-2, which fell by $53, and LTO-4 drives, which continued their steady decline (down to $4,737). Media costs also moved in favor of buyers, with LTO-2 and LTO-3 pricing dropping approximately 6% and 5%, respectively. DLT-S4 media has remained fairly even over the last six months with a current price tag of $95 vs. $96 in late 2007.
