Deduplication is apparently gaining traction with users. Nineteen percent of respondents to our fall 2007 Purchasing Intentions Survey say they have single-instance storage or plan to implement the technology, a five percentage point jump from our spring 2006 survey. The number of people evaluating the technology spiked 16 percentage points in that same time frame. Deduplication is obviously getting harder to ignore. In the spring 2006 survey, 58% of respondents expressed little interest, saying they had no plans for the technology. The latest survey shows that the number indicating "No plans" has dwindled by 21 percentage points to 37%.
