Lower tier disk drive prices creep up

Disk drive prices took a slight turn upward in price this month. While prices for the 73GB 15,000 rpm drive we track dropped almost 2%, 146GB 10,000 rpm SCSI and 250GB 7,200 rpm SATA drive prices increased by approximately 3% and 4%, respectively. Overall, however, disk drive prices remain at their lowest price ranges since we started tracking them. Elsewhere, LTO-3 tape media has hit its lowest price point ever at $58, a drop of close to 8%; LTO-2 media, on the other hand, jumped from $43 last month to $48 this month.
