For the most part, the market was pretty quiet this month. Disk drive prices increased only slightly; 73GB 15,000 rpm disk drives rose 1.74%, while the average price of a 146GB 10,000 rpm disk was unchanged at $272. In the tape realm, LTO-2 drive prices dropped approximately 5% and DLT-S4 dropped 4%, but the rest of the tape drives stayed relatively stable. The prices of both LTO-2 and LTO-3 media went up by $2--to $47 and $65, respectively--but LTO-3 maintains the lowest cost per gigabyte at $0.08/GB (vs. LTO-2's $0.11/GB).
