It looks like storage professionals have backtracked on their plans for data encryption, according to TheInfoPro's Wave 8 survey of Fortune 1000 storage professionals. With security snafus in the headlines, interest in encryption spiked during the previous survey. Wave 8 results are more in line with earlier surveys as storage professionals look for better products to become available. According to Rob Stevenson, managing director, storage at TheInfoPro, some respondents indicated that they're waiting for encryption-enabled LTO-4 tape drives, while others discounted current appliance-based products as overly complex.
