LTO-3 drives and media get cheaper
The average price of the SATA hard drive we track held steady at $102 this month, but it was another story for SCSI. Pricing for Seagate's 73GB Cheetah hard drive increased by 1.5%, while pricing for its 146GB Cheetah decreased by 2.9%. On the tape drive front, the average LTO-3 price once again dipped below that of LTO-2 (a drop of 4.7% for the LTO-3 drive we track vs. a 0.8% rise for LTO-2). Media for both drives fell to their lowest prices in the last six months, with LTO-3 coming down to $77 and LTO-2 tumbling by 10.2% to $44.
