EMC, HDS are tops for exciting new products
Which two vendors have the most exciting new products or technologies you've seen in the last year?
Two stalwarts of the storage industry--EMC and Hitachi Data Systems (HDS)--lead the pack in terms of developing exciting new products, according to Fortune 500 storage professionals polled by TheInfoPro for its Wave 5 Storage Study. When asked to name two companies with exciting new storage products, 21.4% of respondents chose EMC, followed by HDS with 18.4%. For EMC, innovation came by way of its acquisitions, namely Documentum and VMware. HDS, meanwhile, was praised for its TagmaStore virtualization controller. "We think the HDS array-based virtualization is a real advantage," wrote one respondent. "It helps near- and long-term with investment protection, which is clearly a win for them. We preserve the investment in their arrays and have the flexibility to use other vendors' products."
