How much should you be paying for a storage area network (SAN) or network-attached storage (NAS)? According to a recent survey of 200+ storage professionals by TheInfoPro, the average cost per megabyte of both SAN and NAS continued to fall between the third and fourth quarter of 2003. A Fibre Channel SAN costs on average $.05/MB, or $50/GB, and NAS is a touch cheaper: $.04/MB.
