Conventional wisdom states that you back up to disk to get better restores. That said, a recent survey of Storage readers shows that those who are using disk in their backup process are only marginally more confident of their ability to restore a file than their peers using only tape. Backup-to-disk users were supremely confident they could restore a file an average of 70.3% of the time vs. 62.13% of the time for tape-only users. An average of 8.1% of disk backup users stated they couldn't recover a file for a given time period vs. 7% for tape-only users.
