Storage readers are slowly coming around to iSCSI–45% stated that they have either already implemented it, or are planning to, compared to only 23% that are categorically ruling it out. The remaining 32% are on the fence. The most popular use for iSCSI (37.7%) will be to connect stranded servers into legacy storage resources, but iSCSI as a native storage protocol follows closely behind (35.1%). Finally, if there was any doubt as to what host platforms people will use iSCSI for, look no further: Windows leads the Linux by a margin of about 2:1, and commercial Unix systems by almost 4:1.
