SDLT600, LTO-2 in Price War

After months of piddling 1% or 2% drops, Quantum appears to have radically dropped pricing for its SDLT600 drive, which plummeted an average of $619 this month, or 13.1%. With LTO-3 on the way, LTO-2 drives also fell 7%. An 18% drop in prices for LTO-1 media simply reflects the fact that two online retailers with overinflated prices dropped out of the market. Prices for ATA drives also trended downwards by an average of 6.5%; now, 250GB ATA and SATA drives both retail for under $200.
