a SAN. In more or less equal measures, respondents reported that they use small fabric switches, large director-class switches, the core/edge model and multiple small switches connected together. From user comments, we were able to detect a certain amount of interest by readers in moving to a core/edge architecture, or consolidating smaller switches into a single larger director. One reader reports that having multiple fabrics "is a pain to manage. Each fabric is an architecture in itself and is managed the same way."
