This month, the big loser was Seagate's 73GB Cheetah drive, the price for which dropped by more than 14% in a single month. The drop was all the more noticeable in comparison to other disk drives, which exhibited only modest declines, and tape drives and media, which held largely steady. Also note that despite the extra capacity it provides, SDLT 320 media now costs a few dollars less (or 3.8%) per tape than SDLT 220 cartridges. SDLT 320 drives, however, still command a 13.8% price premium over SDLT 220 models.
