MI-S, a.k.a. Bluefin) to their products. This month, we tried to gauge storage managers' interest in SMI-S, and the jury is still out. Overall, more storage managers had high hopes (rating of 4 or 5) for SMI-S than low hopes (rating of 1 or 2): 34% to 31%. At the same time, an overwhelming majority will not require SMI-S support of future storage purchases. Arrays and software emerged as infrastructure pieces most in need of standards. As one reader wistfully put it: "It would be nice not to have three different applications to manage my SANs from three different vendors!"
