The high end continued to provide the most economical prices for hard drives in October. Per-gigabyte costs for high-capacity 181.6GB SCSI drives dropped 26 cents to $9.07, with average unit costs falling to $1646.98. Prices for smaller, 73GB hard drives softened as per-unit averages dipped about $3.30. Per-gigabyte averages for both Super DLT, and LTO media declined about 2 cents compared to September. Among tape drives, LTO pricing saw a healthy decline..
