Prices remained stable once again this month, with only minor changes in some storage hardware and media categories. A slight uptick occurred in 73GB hard drives, with per gigabyte costs rising about 67 cents from August to September. Per-gigabyte prices for the larger 181.6GB drives also rose, but only slightly, by about 13 cents. Super DLT tape drives gained a few cents, while LTO drives held firm. Media for LTO drives continued their downward trend, with averages dropping about 2 cents over the period.

The prices shown here are averages from a geographically dispersed sample of storage VARs and online suppliers.
