Backup applications have evolved over the last few years to incorporate features that were previously available only in third-party products.

New backup technologies are ready for mass adoption, and they're not just for early adopters. Early adopters helped give these technologies a jumpstart because they were comfortable purchasing products from startups and didn't think twice about being the first company on the block to try something new. But pioneers are typically a small contingent with many more potential users choosing a "wait and see" approach.
